It's been a while I haven't update this blog, which really shows I haven't been working hard......huhu
However, recently I finally solve the puzzle of my thesis, after having gone through a few books that I have borrowed from the main library at campus.
By the way, if you haven't been there, I suggest you do! It is so convenient with various facilities;
- private rooms to do your own work
- discussion rooms when you want to discuss with your group mates
- many computers for use with Internet, even wireless (if I'm not mistaken)
- self-check kiosk for borrowing books
- multimedia room
- previous thesis for references
- helpful librarians
- Photostat service
- Three floors of book/thesis/journal storage
You are able to borrow books for one month and extend the duration on the Library website. Sorry I'm not so sure the number of books that can be borrowed, I borrowed three books the other day which are;
- Information Management by Neil M.Duffy and Michael G.Assad (Oxford)
- Managing & Using Information Systems : A Strategic Approach by Keri E. Pearlson and Carol S.Saunders (Wiley)
- Introduction to Information Systems: An Internetworked Enterprise Perspective by James A.O'Brien ( McGraw Hill)
After reviewing some of the chapters that I find beneficial to my thesis, I have finally found the solution to my problem.
Since my title is "Values brought by Information System: User's Perspective", it was a bit confusing on which part to start first. Based from what I have learned from previous Research Methodology class, it is best to explain it as a "Funnel", which means you start off with the generalization of the topic first then narrowing down into your main point.
All along I was a bit stuck on how I wanted to follow this Funnel method but from my point of view, the funnel method for this title is;
General narrowing down to main topic : Information ---> System----> Information System---> Values ---> User's perspective
Hence I have decided to redo my outline for Chapter Two as the following (previously I have posted an entry of my initial outline for Chapter Two) ;
CHAPTER TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW
1. Introduction
2. Definition of Information System
- Information Concept
- System Concept
- Managing Information into the system
3. Importance of Information System
4. Evolution of Information System
5. Values brought by Information System
6. Value of Value in Information System
8. Value-adding process in Information Life Cycle
this is what I plan to prepare at the moment and have printed on my Table of Contents so that I can stay on track. I may update later when I have more to include.
Targets for March :
1) Complete Chapter Two before or by mid of this month!
2) Start preparing Chapter Three and complete it by end of this month!
